Oh look. Text.

the pope may have been a kind man. he may have been a man of peace. this doesn't alter the fact that the catholic church is collectively one of the most corrupt and greedy organizations in existence. i mean no disrespect to anyone in particular. it is very obvious that there are good people who do good things in the name of the church. there are plenty of good, honest, peace-loving individuals that belong to the catholic church. i guess what i'm trying to say is, to honor a man in death is one thing. to honor his position as a figurehead for a less-than-squeaky-clean organization is absolutely twisted. i would go so far as to say that to pay tribute to him is no different than paying a tribute to any other fellow human. again, i don't simply mean to make inflammatory statements, rather i am attempting to take an opportunity to seed some soul-searching.

p.s. i DO encourage non-denominational spirituality, as many other organized religions possess their own share of corruption and shady pasts.

looking forward for it... will be very happy to include it here.

thanks for sharing your thoughts. although they somehow differ from mine.
i don't feel like debating right now, but these are some thoughts that came to my head.

yes i agree that the church has had a shady past (it is fact), but this was the pope who asked for forgiveness.
yes there may be individuals in the church which have a far than examplary lifestyle, but that is the life of the individual person which should not be attributed to the beliefs of the whole church.
this pope was a man who lived the words of jesus: to love the people and to be persons of peace.

thanks again for sharing. but i don't want to start a debate
:iconwrecktangle:
i totally agree with you.

though i'm quite on the atheist side, he was a great image for all the reputation of christians and catholics, which were marred so much here in America. I will certainly do a piece in his tribute. Thanx for this chance.
