Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.-- Revelation 4:11
this is a short (can't be anyshorter without leaving out important details) of what missioncamp is...
--
missioncamp is a month's experience in summer organised for teenagers aged between 14-16 years
it's been going on since the summer of 2002
basically, participants will be divided into groups of around 5-7 members (called squads). Each squad will have a mission - a voluntary work to do for the next 3 weeks.
for the first 3 weeks the participants meet at the base at 8am. we first have some sort of icebreaker, to wake up, then a leader gives the participants a small talk and we spend some time in prayer.
At 9:30 all squads leave for their missions. there are a variety of missions ranging from helping at homes for the elderly to helping the sisters of mother theresa to animating a summerschool for refugee kids...
at 13:30 all squads come back to the base and we have a short break (and maybe some other game).
then another very short thought will be given out by a leader and all participants are divided into sharing groups. Here, as opposed to the squads, boys and girls are seperated so that a deeper level of sharing can be reached. There will be around 10 people in each sharing group and a leader. Here, guided by a leader, the participants share about their experiences in the various missions, their response to what their heard in the talks, their overall experience in missioncamp, their relationship with Jesus and other stuff, and the leader has the responsability to guide the discussion and challenge the group.
the day ends with mass and at around 3:45 everyone can go home (although many remain at the base to continue to share about their day)
On tuesdays there are no missions. tuesday are reserved for for what are known as formation days . We will normally go to some other location and invite a guest speaker. This will be a day of formation and games.
the last week will be either a camp (with tents and hiking) or a live-in or something similar where all participants spend many days away from home and living together, always keeping in mind relationships in the grp and with jesus.

anyways this was a quick summary of what missioncamp is all about. as you can see it's about getting closer to jesus, making new friends and helping out through voluntary work.
if you'd like to see more you can visit the missioncamp website . there are photos from all camps, wallpapers and some videos too + other info. (the site is not 100% updated as we are in the process of giving it a face lift.)
A brand new monthly article which showcases some of deviantART's finest equine artists, as well as recognizing the lesser-known but equally talented ones. Interviews, helpful tutorials and features can all be found here too! I hope you enjoy it.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
We're going to delve into the awesome world of Prints on dA - all these lovelies have been made using Stock that can be found in the dun dun dun Stock Gallery. So have a look and if you like them you could have them hanging in your own house!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
